hi everyone..

as some of you might remember, about a year ago we tried to orchestrate a small, invitation-only, submissions-based design project that met with less than stellar results. well, it's that time of year again... this summer certainly hasn't been a slow one, but hopefully there will still be enough downtime to pull it off this time.

for the new invitees, here's a recap:

the plan:

a series of small projects with short turn-arounds and invitations sent only to hand-picked friends who can be trusted to deliver really good work. despite limiting the project to 10-20 pages, actually -printing- the first few projects will likely not happen. they will certainly be available in PDF format at www.theprintmanufactory.com for all the world to see and at very least, it would be great to make at least one tangible copy of each and have them float around indefinitely; collecting autographs from the participants.

the first project:

entitled "LOCI", this project is about places. you are invited to create a design based on a location that inspires you. the only restrictions are that a) it be a major geographic location that can be found in an atlas. a city, a town, a village, a park, etc. it can be a place you live, have lived, visited or just always wanted to go that in some way inspires you and b) no text. or atleast, only as a graphic element. no labels. no headers. no reasons. no explanations.

how you choose to represent this place is entirely up to you.

::

specifications can be found here [PDF] and you have roughly two months to submit your work.

if you're interested in submitting something, please send an email asap to loci@theprintmanufactory.com once you've selected your location so we can get an idea if it's going to work this time or not and to try and avoid duplicates if possible. like last time, a simple website listing all the contributors and their chosen destinations will be setup.

thanks and we look forward to your submissions!
